Advocacy Center

Welcome to the Advocacy Center

ADVION's advocacy efforts serve to provide your organization with the policy knowledge and tools necessary to ensure that your voice is heard in the congressional health care debate with the Administration and on Capitol Hill.

Current Advocacy Priorities

ADVION encourages members to become involved in advocating for our current legislative and regulatory priorities – whether it's by scheduling a meeting with your elected representative, writing a letter, or making a phone call.

Ask your Member of Congress to support and discuss with their colleagues long-term and common-sense reform to the Medicare Physician Fee Schedule for CY 2024.

ADVION is deeply concerned about the growing financial instability of the Medicare Physician Fee Schedule due to a number of uncertainties long-term care providers face. ADVION's top priority is to work with Congress to develop and pass long-term and common-sense payment reform.

Expand Medicare Beneficiaries’ Access to Digital Health By Extending Telehealth Flexibilities

During the COVID-19 Public Health Emergency (PHE), CMS waived certain Medicare restrictions to allow rehabilitation therapists to deliver care via telehealth for patients who otherwise may have gone without needed therapy. We need Congress to make permanent those CMS waivers to allow patients to access rehab therapy via telehealth when needed.

Additional Advocacy Issues

ADVION encourages members to learn more about our legislative and regulatory priorities.

The Patient-Driven Payment Model (PDPM) is the reimbursement system model that Medicare began to use to determine payments for SNFs starting on October 1, 2019. PDPM replaced the Resources Utilization Groups (RUGs) model. PDPM fits into a broader push by CMS toward “patient-centered” reimbursement models that match payment rates to the patients’ needs.

Preserve Access to Laboratory Services

The bipartisan, bicameral Saving Access to Laboratory Services Act (SALSA – H.R. 2377, S.1000) would protect patient access to clinical laboratory testing, support investment in diagnostic innovation and strengthen the nation’s critical laboratory infrastructure by preventing drastic cuts to the Clinical Laboratory Fee Schedule (CLFS) and fixing the flawed data reporting and rate setting methodology put in place by the Protecting Access to Medicare Act (PAMA) of 2014.
